    You can hire a local taxi from the Leh Union to visit the lake.
    The journey by car typically takes 8-10 hours to reach the lake. 
  2. By Motorcycle
    You may hire a local motorbike [Royal Enfield preferred] and ride alone to the lake.
    Please note the area is quite remote and hence plan the trip in a group and carry sufficient fuel.

Spangmik – Man [9 km] – Merak [11 km] – Chushul [26 km] – Mirpal Tso Lake [27 km] = 70 Km in total

  • Start your day with breakfast overlooking the stunning Pangong Tso Lake.
  • Depart from Pangong and head towards the charming village of Spangmik, known for its lakeside beauty.
  • Continue your journey to Man, enjoying the picturesque Lake along the way.
  • Explore the village of Merak, which offers the best view of Pangong Tso Lake.
  • Drive to Chushul, a historic town that has played a significant role in the region’s past.

  • You may continue your journey towards Hanle, Tsomoriri Lake, or Leh as planned.

  1. Acclimatize Gradually
    Due to the high altitude of the Lake, it’s important to acclimatize slowly to prevent altitude sickness. Spend a day or two in Leh to adjust to the altitude before heading to the lake.
  2. Pack Warm Clothing
    Even in the summer, the Chumathang region can get chilly, especially at night. Pack warm clothing, including layers, thermal wear, and a good-quality jacket, to stay comfortable.
  3. Stay Hydrated
    Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Avoid caffeine and alcohol since they can cause dehydration.
  4. Respect the Environment
    Please observe the “Leave No Trace” guidelines because the lake’s environment is sensitive. Avoid picking flowers or harming wildlife, and dispose of garbage appropriately.
  5. Prepare for Limited Connectivity
    In some areas near the lake, mobile network connectivity may be spotty or nonexistent altogether. It’s a good idea to let your family and friends know your travel plans.
  6. No Accommodations
    Please be advised that there are no accommodations near the Mirpal Lake. You can either spend a night at home stays at the Chumathnga village or travel to Hanle, Tsomoriri, or Leh for an overnight stay.
